Most Creative Albums Of 2008 (So Far) v.1

I love creativity. Especially when it comes in music form. Here is my first installment of what I believe to be some of the most creative albums this year.

Album: Viva la Vida

Favorite Song: Violet Hill
Music: 5
Lyrics: 4.5
Mix: 3.5
Artistry: 5

My Rating: 4.4
all ratings on a five point scale

This album is very interesting. Great music + strong lyrics always makes for a great listening experience. The unique, Coldplay style, instrumentation has been trned up a notch. It is not “Radio Friendly” as some may say, although it does have tracks that make great singles. You have no doubt heard the first “iTunes ready” single (whether you knew it or not) and title track, Viva la Vida, from the iTunes tv spots. It is a great tune, but my favorite track is the current single, Violet Hill. I love the beat and the vocal is phenomenal. Cool video as well. A great deal of the album has a Pink Floyd feel. My only displeasure with the whole album is the final mix. I’m no expert, but at times it is difficult to understand the vocal. You may have to listen to some of the tracks a few times to really get the lyric content. It also has a little too much highs in the mix for my taste. Kind of roars at times. All in all, I give it two big thumbs up. Must have for fans of true artistry.
